History of Akbar's Tomb
Emperor Akbar designed his own tomb at Sikandra, and it was completed by his son Jahangir in 1613.
The five-tiered sandstone and marble structure reflects Akbar's syncretic faith, mixing Islamic, Hindu, Christian and Buddhist motifs.
The surrounding deer park is home to blackbuck and langurs, making it a peaceful stop on the way in from Delhi.
