History of Mehtab Bagh

Mehtab Bagh, the 'Moonlight Garden', is the last in a series of eleven Mughal gardens laid along the Yamuna, originally built by Babur.

Aligned perfectly with the Taj Mahal on the opposite bank, it was designed as a moonlit viewing terrace and is often linked to Shah Jahan's fabled Black Taj.

Restored by the Archaeological Survey of India, it is today the most photographed sunset spot in Agra.
